Khmer New Year 2022

In Cambodia, Khmer New Year (KNY) is a traditional celebration festival for Cambodian, also known as “Choul Chnam Thmey” in Khmer language. It’s a national public holiday that usually takes three to four days.

This year, Khmer New Year fell on 14 April 2022. As a token of appreciation from the company to all the workers and staff, our company had planned a celebration event on 9th April, the last working day before KNY. Due to Covid 19 pandemic, we have not celebrated this event for the past two years. So, this was an eventful celebration for everyone in our company.

The celebration was kicked off by a speech from our respectful General Manager, Mr. Chong Cher Kung. He wished everyone have a Happy Khmer New Year, and enjoy the party.

After everyone enjoyed the foods, here come our most existing program of the day – Lucky draw! We had prepared over 100 prizes as lucky draw gifts. But there was no disappointment for those who didn’t win a prize, as we also prepared door gift for everyone!

We ended the party with everyone having fun dancing together. We all really enjoyed the party and have fun!

World AIDS Day

Wearing red ribbon on 1 December has become a norm in BSSL. We distributed 500 red ribbons to our workers on World Aids Day to raise awareness on HIV. The red ribbon is the universal symbol of awareness and support for people living with HIV.

We have also organised a talk on HIV to our workers showcasing the causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatments and prevention. To manifest our value of care, passion, commitment and sustainability, we urge our workers to be passionate and do not stigmatise HIV communities.

About World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day takes place on 1 December each year for people to unit in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness.

Over 75,000 people are living with HIV in Cambodia. HIV new infection peaked in 1997 at 14,000 cases. Many efforts have been put into fighting against the virus over the past 2 decades and Cambodia has seen the reduction of new infection to 1100 cases in year 2020. World AIDS Day is important because it reminds us to increase awareness, fight prejudice and improve education.
